Crime Branch raids illegal breweries, seize mahua liquor stock

Nagpur: In the drive against spurious liquor and maintain peace during Holi revelry, the Crime Branch formed squads and raided an illegal brewery unit and seized a large quantity of illicit country made liquor prepared from mahua flowers.

The Crime Branch sleuths raided illegal breweries in Bhivsen Khairi in the district simultaneously between 5.30 am and 12 noon on Tuesday and seized 5350 litres of fermented mahua mixture worth Rs 2.79 lakh, 232 litres of mahua liquor worth Rs 23,000 and other material worth Rs 25,000. The cops have arrested four persons including 3 women. However, a man managed to escape the police net and is being hunted. The arrested accused are Reshma Javed Mohammed (35), Sumitra Rajesh Borkar (45, Mirabai Ganvir and Vishnuda Khobragade, all residents of Bhivsen Khairi, Dabha. The absconding accused is Roshan Haridas Khobragade, resident of Bhivsen Khairi, Dabha Ring Road.

The raid action was carried out under the directives of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, DCP (Crime) Sambhaji Kadam, ACP Dr Ashwini Patil by PI A I Mudgal, APIs Bobde, Atulkar, Gaddime, Aware, Chavan, PSIs Pendkar, Tripathi, Wakode, Sharma, and other Crime Branch staff.
