Crime Branch has seized over 60 fake rubber stamps, documents and other material from the possession of the kingpin. Police have launched a massive hunt to nab other members of the gang.

According to police, the Crime Branch received a tip off that the mastermind Rakesh Pralhad Gode (28), resident of Bhandewadi, coming under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station, and his other accomplices were running the racket of preparing and issuing bogus certificates of crucial Government departments. The Crime Branch, armed with the vital information, stormed residence of Rakesh Pralhad Gode. The sleuths were taken aback when they stumbled upon fake rubber stamps of Deputy Collector, Tehsildar, Nayab Tehsildar, Additional Registrar, Treasury Officer, Medical Officer, Election Officer, Rajmudra (Government Emblem), different officers of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and other officials of important Government departments. A total of 54 bogus rubber stamps were recovered. Similarly, a stock of fake Caste Certificates, Caste Inspection Certificates, Medical Certificates, Election Cards, Birth & Death Certificates, Income Certificates, Mark Sheets, School Leaving Certificates (TCs), Specimen Certificates accepted at various departments of NMC, NIT, Copies of different certificates prepared and issued to people, and other bogus documents. The Crime Branch has seized all the fake rubber stamps, blank certificates, copies of certificates issued, computer, rubber stamp making machine collectively worth Rs 52,600.

The Operation Bogus Certificates was carried out by Crime Branch Inspector Madhav N Giri, Assistant Police Inspector Yuvraj Patki, Constables Mangesh Desai, Rajaram Dhore, Manoj Joshi, Vilas Gajbhiye, Ravindra Lande, Badal Mandhre, Woman Police Constable Manda Maraskolhe under the directives of Police Commissioner K K Pathak, Joint Police Commissioner Sanjay Saxena, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Nagpur City) and under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Sunil Kolhe.

Police surmise the arrest of the main accused could just be a tip of iceberg. The way the entire racket is being run on such a massive scale, links of other bigwigs could not be ruled out. Role of some Government employees is also suspicious. A detailed investigation will certainly expose the magnitude of the racket, police claimed.
