Cricket betting den busted in Gopal Nagar; 2 arrested

Nagpur: The crime branch of Nagpur police had raided a gambling den running in an apartment in Gopal Nagar on Thursday. The cops arrested two people allegedly involved in the crime. The accused included Brijlal Baghele, 51, resident of Soni Galli, Sitabuldi and Deepak Sudhir Bagha, 29, resident of Punjabi Line, Sadar Nagpur. The cops have also recovered TV set, set top box, mobile phones and cash amount of Rs 25,000 from their possession. This is the third raid on cricket gambling den undertaken by the crime branch in the past three days.

The cops received a tip off about the gambling den being operated in Mahalaxmi Apartments in Gopal Nagar area. The cops raided the gambling den and arrested the accused Brijlal Baghele and Deepak Sudhir Bagha from the spot. Both the accused were caught red handed gambling (Satta) on cricket matches.

A case was registered in the Ranapratap Nagar Police Station against the accused. This raid was undertaken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Ranjan Sharma and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilesh Raut.

Police Inspector Khatke, Police Sub Inspector Rajpoot, PSI K R Singh, Constable Sanjay Devkar, Minind Moon, Constable Satish Nimje, Gopal Deshmukh, Ram Yadav and others participated in the raid.
