Couple lures old woman with secret treasure, usurps Rs 3.91 lakh, two plots; one arrested

Nagpur: Blinded by superstitions, an aged woman was tricked and robbed of cash Rs 3,91,000 and two plots of land by a husband-wife duo in Hudkeshwar area of city. One accused has been arrested in this connection.

The aged victim Kusum Leeladhar Ladekar (64), resident of Plot No. 110, Maa Bhagwati Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur was approached by the accused couple Shilpa Pankaj Kamble (25) and Pankaj Raju Kamble (28), both residents of Maa Bhagwati Nagar. The two accused visited Kusum’s house frequently from May 2014. After winning her confidence, the accused husband-wife lured Kusum with digging secret treasure. The superstitious Kusum too believed the accused couple’s secret treasure trick. However, after some days, the accused Shilpa and Pankaj scared Kusum by telling her that the diggers of secret treasure have been arrested by police and that she will also be arrested. Later, on the pretext of bail and other court expenses, the accused couple usurped Rs 3,91,000 from Kusum over a period and also prepared Registry of two plots of land in their names. The alleged fraud committed by the accused husband-wife came to the notice of Kusum Ladekar and she finally lodged a complaint with Hudkeshwar Police Station in this connection.

HUdkeshwar API Ingle registered an offence against the accused couple under Sections 420, 34 of the IPC and arrested Pankaj Raju Kamble. Further probe is underway.
