Nagpur: An alleged satta-matka gambling den being operated from behind a hut in the Gokulpeth Market area was raided by police on Sunday, resulting in the arrest of three persons and seizure of cash, mobile phones and other gambling material worth Rs 51,650.
The action was carried out by the Escort Team in coordination with Ambazari police after officers received information about an illegal numbers-based betting operation in the market area.

According to police, the raid was conducted at around 3.30 pm on September 21 after API Bhagwan Koli, head of the Escort Team, received a tip-off that satta betting was being conducted from behind a hut in Gokulpeth Market.
After verifying the information, the Escort Team, with the assistance of Ambazari police, raided the suspected gambling spot.
As police approached, some people allegedly involved in gambling fled from the spot. However, three persons suspected of operating the betting den were apprehended. They have been identified as Jitendra Mahadev Wagade, Santosh Mahadev Wagade and Sagar Ramesh Gawai.
Police seized cash, three mobile phones and gambling-related material with a combined value of Rs 51,650 during the operation.
A case has been registered at Ambazari police station under provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil by a team comprising API Bhagwan Koli, API Sharda Bhopale, Police Head Constables Vijay Giri and Omprakash Khandate, and personnel Ashish Gaydhane and Chandrakant Mehtre.
Police are investigating the operation and the involvement of other persons who allegedly fled from the spot.
