Nagpur: Some officers may face disciplinary action as they were not present on duty when Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr K Venkatesham paid a surprise visit to Control Room on Monday evening.

Sources said, the lower-rung police personnel were caught unaware when they suddenly noticed the City Police Chief sporting civil dress in the Control Room. It was shocking for the top cop to see the entire Control Room functioning at the mercy of lower rung police personnel and that to on the very first day of Ganesh festival, added the sources.

Sources said, Dr Venkatesham conducted enquiries with the staff about their day-to-day functioning.

After some time, PSI Lawrence Jeevan Icar and PSI Deshmukh rushed to the Control Room after they were alerted by some constables. Surprisingly, the in-charge of Control Room, who is usually an officer of the rank of Police Inspector, was not present, sources added.

After collecting all details, Dr K Venkatesham issued necessary instructions to the staff, sources said, adding that concerned officers may face disciplinary action for not attending to their duties properly.
