Contractor, supervisor arrested for causing death of a labourer negligently

Nagpur: A contractor and supervisor were arrested by Ajni police on the charges of causing death of a labourer negligently. Two labourers were crushed under rubble while carrying out digging work for laying of a pipeline for gutter line on Monday evening. One labourer died in the mishap while the other was injured.

The accused contractor, Sanjay Kisan Pise (44), resident of Plot No. 64, Bhandeplot, Nirmal Nagar and the supervisor Parmeshwar Madhukar Hatwar (46), resident of Plot No. 107, Ganeshnagar, were carrying out pipeline laying work at a site in Hariom Colony, in Ajni area on Monday. The two labourers namely Arvind Inwati (25) and Chetan Inwati (50), both natives of Khamaria, Seoni District (MP). Around 5.30 pm, earth caved in and the two labourers were crushed under the debris. Arvind died on the spot while Chetan suffered serious injuries. The accused contractor and the supervisor had made no safety arrangements while carrying out the digging work and this led to the death of Arvind.

Ajni Woman PSI M K Harde, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Santpal Santosh Inwati (21) , booked the accused Sanjay Pise and Parmeshwar Hatwar under Sections 337, 304, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest. Further probe is on.
