On-line auction of Sand Excavation in district
Nagpur: The district administration had stopped the registration of names for sand excavation auction in the district around 3-4 days ago. Yesterday, i.e. September 19, 2016 was the last date for paying-up the EMD (Earnest Money Deposit). However, the contenders for auction of sand excavation could pay the EMD only from 10 am to 11 am only.
Those who managed to pay the EMD within this time slot managed to pay-in their EMD, others could not. However, after 11 am, the website crashed and remained crashed throughout the day. The other contenders were irked and alleged of tender fixing with the help of some officials of District administration.
According to some of the contenders’ allegations, this process occurs almost every year. Under the pre-planned move, the sand mafia had deposited the EMD for the sand ghats of their choice before September 17, 2016. The other irked contenders have demanded that the District Collector should get the matter investigated by the Cyber Cell of Nagpur Police.
They have also demanded that the tender process should be stopped till the investigations are carried out by the Cyber Cell of Nagpur Police. They also alleged that crores worth of revenue to the district administration has been lost due to this incident. However, the process of on-line auction of sand excavation has already started.
