Consumers ‘Thumbs Up ‘ NMC OCW’s digital payment option

Nagpur: More and more consumers prefer digital payment options – cashless transactions-to pay water bills these days. Almost 1.48 lakh consumers paid over Rs 37.21 crore water bills in 2018-19 through various digital payment options like Online Bill, Pay Tm, Nagpur Water App, or swipe machine cards. In 2015-16 over 22, 777 consumers adopted digital payment mode and paid 16.10 crore, in 2016-17 over 45,231 consumers paid Rs 25.47 crore, while in 2017-18 over 59, 324 consumers paid Rs 29.12 crore.

At present in just three months of current financial year 2019-20 almost 29, 342 consumers have paid water bills worth Rs 7.21 crore through digiutal payment mode. It may be mentioned here Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started Digital India movement on July 1, 2015 and since then entire country is observing July 1 as National Digital Payment Day. Since then July 1, 2015 NMC-OCW has also adopted digital payment facilities for benefit of its consumers.

Water consumers have easy option available of paying water bills. Along with Online Billing facility, now official mobile app ‘Nagpur Water’ will allow consumers to avail NMC-OCW services at his/her fingertips.

The step by Nagpur Municipal Corporation andd Orange City Water (OCW) will enable consumers to pay the bills from their mobile handsets. The app is simple and easy to use, and provides transparency in delivering services to consumers.

Sunday, June 30, 2019 Along with the mobile application, NMC-OCW has also introduced PayTM services for consumers. PayTM is the one of the most popular payment application, and now NMC-OCW will accept water bills via PayTM too.

Consumer needs to enter his contract account number and amount to pay his bill. The receipt of the payment will be provided by PayTM. The paid amount will be credited to consumers account in 24 hours. Consumer will also get
promotional offers from PayTM for water bill payment.

To increase digitization and cashless transactions, NMC-OCW have also introduced swipe machines in all zone offices. Consumers can swipe any Visa or Master debit or credit card to pay water bills. All transactions are without any additional charges to the consumers.

Further, NMC-OCW have started additional payment counters at various zones; Trimurti Nagar Water Tank (Laxmi Nagar zone), Dabha Water Tank (Dharampeth), Kharbi Water Tank (Nehru Nagar Zone), Shanti Nagar Water Tank (Satranjipura), and Subhan Nagar Water Tank (Lakadganj). Consumers can pay water bills as well as register water related complaints at all such extension counters also.
