Nagpur:
An unidentified conman systematically fooled a middle-aged man who had gone to a bank for depositing cash and robbed him of Rs 1.60 lakh on Tuesday.

The complainant, Rajesh Bapurao Manekar (39), resident of Lakdipul, behind Gajanan Mandir, around 11.45 am on Tuesday went to CA Road Branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank for depositing Rs 1.60 cash belonging to his employer. At the bank, an unidentified man approached Rajesh and told him “Mereko pehchanta hai kya? Mera Raj Enterprise Fawwara Chowk Pe Hai. Tum Paise Jama Karne Aye Ho. Mere paas ke paise tumhare malak Soniji ke khate me jama karna hai.” (Do you know me. My Raj Enterprise is situated at Fawwara Square. I have money for depositing in the account of your employer Soni.) With these words, the accused conman procured phone number of Rajesh’s employer and pretended talking to his employer saying that he will deposit Rs 1.60 lakh Rajesh was holding.

With this bogus conversation, the accused took Rs 1.60 lakh from Rajesh but never deposited it in the bank. Rajesh soon realised he has been fooled and robbed of the cash and later lodged a complaint with Kotwali police.

Police constable Deepak Lanjewar has registered a case under Sections 406, 420 of the IPC and searching for the conman.
