Nagpur: A conman defrauded a builder to the tune of Rs 23.50 lakh in a dubious land deal. Ajni police have booked the accused and probing the matter.

A resident of Plot No. 473, Tiranga Square, Nehru Nagar, Moreshwar Chintaman Saur (50) runs a firm Mahalaxmi Builders and Developers. In his complaint to Ajni police, Moreshwar said that the accused Sachin Jageshwar Patil, resident of Plot No. 12, Din Prajahit Colony, Narendra Nagar, approached him on August 7, 2018, and told him that he has been given authority to negotiate a deal for sale of land situated at Mauza Besa, Khasra No. 39.

On the pretext of such bogus authority and after winning trust of Moreshwar, the accused Sachin Patil made a written agreement for sale of the said land with him between August 7, 2018 and April 2, 2019. In return, the accused took Rs 23.50 lakh as earnest money from Moreshwar.

But neither the land was sold to Moreshwar nor his money returned by accused. Cheated in the deal, Moreshwar had filed a petition in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on July 4, 2019. The court passed an order in accordance with the provisions under Section 156(3) of CrPC. Subsequently, Moreshwar lodged a complaint with Ajni police on September 24, 2019 in this connection.

Ajni Assistant PSI Dehankar has booked the accused Sachin Patil under Sections 420, 406 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
