The rally began at the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at Trisharan Chowk in Rameshwari and proceeded to Mahakalkar Hall in Dattatraya Nagar. Nagpur hosted the launch of the second phase of the Congress campaign.
Several senior party leaders participated in the rally, including Maharashtra Congress state in-charge Sirivella Prasad, Nagpur City Congress president Praful Gudhade Patil and MLA Abhijit Vanjari.
Members of various Congress block committees, corporators, Youth Congress office-bearers and party workers also took part in the event.
Congress Raises Concerns Over SIR
According to Congress leaders, the rally was organised to highlight concerns over the deletion of voters’ names during the SIR exercise and to register the party’s opposition to what it described as problems in the electoral process.
State in-charge Sirivella Prasad and city Congress president Praful Gudhade Patil addressed the media during the event and outlined the party’s position.
Through the campaign, the Congress said it aims to draw attention to the protection of voting rights and ensure that eligible voters are not excluded from electoral rolls.
The allegations regarding voter deletions and the party’s objections to the SIR process remain the Congress’s stated position.
