Felicitation of Merit student of Shivaji Science College held

Shivaji-ScienceNagpur Today.

Students who have excelled need to be recognized for their hard work. This also works as an incentive for other junior students who get motivated to work and study hard to excel.

A similar event is organized every year at Shivaji Science College. The students who have excelled and have brought glory to the college were felicitated on July, 12, 2014 at the Shivaji Science College. Well known social worker  Dr. Rani Bang was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who inaugurated the event.

While addressing the gathering Dr. Rani Bang said that we should not only remember high achievers like Chhatrapati Shivaji, but also the brave and untiring efforts of Rani Laxmi Bai. The students need to accept the defeat too sometimes, since real life is not a red carpet. One must have the courage to overcome the drawbacks and learn from them to succeed in the next attempt. She urged the students to be on a lookout for the right opportunities since they are always available somewhere and we often fail to spot them. She stressed the need to compete with one-self and not with others. Instead of being competitive one must be humane first. It is necessary to decide one’s goal and must be well aware about where that goal will lead us in our life.

Director of Nirman Pralkap Gadchiroli Amrut Bang established a good dialogue with the students and made them aware about the characteristics of Under-graduate stage in the life of a student. He said that up to XII standard the problems are convergent which leads to convergent answers; whereas in actual life the problems are divergent which may have divergent answers. To be successful in such situations one should not only be competitive but also cooperative. In actual life one must master the skill of cooperation. In actual life information is provided, skills may be taught but purpose will never be taught. Hence one has to keep his eyes and mind open to understand the purpose for you. He also elaborated the place of money in one’s life.

Regional Director IGNOU, Nagpur Dr. P. Sivaswarup in his speech explained what merit is. He said M stands for motivation, E for energetic, R for resourcefulness, I for interest, and T for quality time. He also advised the students to inculcate values in their life.

In the presidential address Vice President of Shri Shivaji Society Dr. S. B. Thakare blessed the students on the occasion Guru Poornima and said this is the best Guru Dakshina the Students have given to their teachers.

In all 82 students scored more than 90% marks in XII HSC examination; about 10 passed the prestigious IIT advance examination with colors; about 200 students passed IIT  Mains examination; about 7 cleared AIPMT; 16 MHCET; 10 National Science Olympiad and 6 National Mathematics Olympiad, one 1E0. All these students were felicitated by the dignitaries. Dr. D.K. Burhate, Principal of the college gave a brief outline of the activities carried out in college.

On the occasion some of the teachers were also awarded prizes for their outstanding performance. This included Dr. Puranik, Sham Darokar and Dr. Utale during the session 2013-14.
