Commission Member Dr Mahato reviews welfare schemes meant for sanitation workers

The Member of National Commission for Safai Karmacharis (Sanitation Workers) Dr Lata Mahato on Thursday held a meeting at New Administrative Building of NMC and reviewed implementation of welfare schemes launched by State and Central Government for sanitation workers and their families. Dr Mahato had earlier also held meetings in NMC and discussed demands of sanitation workers.  In today’s meeting, the Member reviewed the action taken by the NMC.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kakde, Deputy Director (Health) Dr Milind Ganvir, Regional Deputy Commissioner of Social Welfare Department R D Atram, Executive Engineer (Slums) Satish Neral, Education Officer Dipendra Lokhande, Food Inspector Sudhir Fating and other officials.

The Member of National Commission for Safai Karmacharis directed the NMC Administration to ensure that the welfare schemes meant for sanitation workers and their families are implemented on priority basis. The NMC should also set up a complaints redressal committee to facilitate resolving of their problems.
