A delegation of ‘Parivartan,’ the Citizens’ Forum had met District Collector Abhishek Krishna on July 21, 2014 on the issue of commercialization and negligence of Kasturchand Park. During the meeting the Collector had ordered Deputy Collector Sangitrao to restrict the access to the ground by motorists by locking the gates of Kasturchand Park (only pedestrians can enter the ground through side gates) so that the ground is immediately protected from various kinds of illegal activities.

Secretary of ‘Parivartan’ Dinesh Naidu said the Citizens’ Forum has been fighting for maintenance and commercialization of this ground since last past many years and had even filed a PIL against organizing circus at this ground. ‘Parivartan’ has appealed to all the concerned Government agencies like Nazul Department, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department & Nagpur City Police to now take a united effort and make some proper developmental plan so that proper facilities such as jogging and walking track, public toilet,  proper lighting etc are created. Also important issues like removal of encroachments from the surrounding footpaths, providing round the clock security guards, preservation of heritage structure like Minar, Cannons and Band Stand etc must be carried out so that this historic and iconic landmark of Nagpur city gets back to its earlier golden days.
