Mumbai: After days of intense winter conditions across Maharashtra, weather patterns are now showing signs of change. Several cities, including Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Akola, and Yavatmal, have been experiencing a significant drop in temperature due to cold winds blowing in from northern India.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now indicated a slight decrease in cold intensity from Thursday onward in some regions, with cloudy skies reported during early morning and evening hours. The shift in atmospheric conditions has prompted the IMD to issue a rain alert for specific districts.

Pune continues to experience severe early morning chill. The iconic Ganesh idol at Sarasbaug was once again dressed in a woollen sweater and cap — a tradition observed for the past several years — which has become a topic of discussion among locals and visitors.

Caution Issued for Citizens, Travelers & Farmers

With rapid weather fluctuations expected, the IMD has advised:

  • Citizens to stay warm and cautious while traveling

  • Farmers to protect crops from moisture and fog

  • Hill and high-altitude regions to prepare for intensified cold and misty mornings and evenings

With temperatures continuing to fall and cloud cover increasing, the next 24 hours are expected to be crucial in determining the weather pattern across Maharashtra.
