CM directs authorities to take special efforts to rehabilitate people hit by various projects

Nagpur News: The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today (November 22) reviewed rehabilitation progress of Gosikhurd and Mihan project-affected people in a meeting held at his official residence “Ramgiri” in Nagpur. The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to take special efforts for implementing “Adarsh Rehabilitation Project” of various project-affected people (PAPs).

The Divisional Commissioner B V Gopala Reddy apprised the Chief Minister with the rehabilitation work of Gosikhurd and Mihan project-affected people in details. Others present at meeting include Minister of State for Finance and Planning Rajendra Mulak, District Collector Saurabh Rao, NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, Executive Director of Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation P C Jhapke, Deputy Commissioner M H Khan, Mihan’s Chief Engineer S V Chahande, Project Officer Abid Ruhi and other officials.

The Divisional Commissioner informed the Chief Minister that till now 11734 persons affected by Gosikhurd Irrigation Project have been identified and compensation amount has been calculated which stands at Rs 365.24 crore. The payment of compensation amount is being done through NEFT system and so far Rs 122.72 crore have been distributed to the beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, while reviewing the Mihan project-affected rehabilitation work, directed the concerned authorities to minutely study the system adopted for land acquisition for construction of an International Airport in Navin Mumbai. “Adopt the same system for rehabilitation of Mihan project affected people as well as Gosikhurd project,” the Chief Minister said. The CM also reviewed the works of Boeing and other companies in Mihan. “I will visit Gosikhurd and Mihan projects during Winter Session to be held in Nagpur,” Chavan told the officials present at the meeting.
