The month of August marks the beginning of festivities and feasts, specially in Nagpur.

The festivals of Ganesh Puja, during which Mahalaxmis also ‘visit’ and have to be feasted on ‘maike ka khana’, then Durga puja with lavish ‘bhoj’ followed immediately by Dasera all call for the richest of Maharashtrian food on offer!

Where else to go for it than hotel Shruti in Surendra Nagar?

For nostalgic reasons they still call themselves a ‘Veg Fast Food & Pizza Corner’ since their journey in the food industry began by selling the Rs. 20/ Amul pizza. (Remember it? Many outlets had sold it but no one thrived on it like the Pandey family owning Shruti.)

They still offer pizza too, and South Indian ‘tiffin’ items like Dosas and idlis for breakfast but they are best known for their Maharashtrian delicacies like Khawa (Mawa) stuffed roti, puranpoli,Patodi rassa,Baingan masala, Masale bhat, Gola bhat and jowar bhakris.

And if you are looking for Fusion foods, there is Shezwan rice, Paneer Lababdar and Aloo paratha too!

The specialties they like to offer are Saoji paneer, Veg Saoji ‘Anda’ curry, Bhendi masala and Baigan masala.

Whatever you choose to eat, is served fast and garam – garam. What’s more, whatever you order, the average cost per person will not exceed Rs. 200/ per head. Their special ‘Shruti thali’ available only for lunch, is priced at Rs. 150/ only.

That too in a pleasant air conditioned environment. That is why we call it our first ‘fine dining’ for Marathi food!

But please! They are very particular about their timings. So please note:
Breakfast between 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. (Thursday closed)
