Nagpur News.

Intense downpour and heavy rains during last three days has not only thrown life out of gear  but also made shifting gears on city roads a dangerous task. While it exposed the quality of city roads, it has also made driving on two-wheelers nearly impossible. On Thursday, as the rains took a break, people ventured out to their schools, colleges, offices and business. To their dismay they were greeted with the pathetic state of already pot-holed roads revealing shoddy job done by the civic authorities. This turned their ride through city roads into a nightmare.

The upper layer of most of the roads have been literally vanished by the incessant rains. While water logging in many places caused many small accidents of slipping and falling, the fine grains of granite stones, used for roads are scattered on the city roads. This caused heavy dust which created a smoke filled atmosphere  carrying these fine, scarry particles. Almost every vehicle, especially two-wheelers, were seen struggling their way through these solid particles.

Anyone wearing a white shirt can notice their shirt covered by fine dust. If this is not enough, if a car or any four-wheeler buzz past you on the road, these fine particles of granite hit you like spray gun.

The dust causes you to temporary blindness if the particles enter your eyes. The citizens are advised to use glasses if they are driving on two-wheelers. The dust rising to tree heights, cause low to zero visibility on many city roads.

Nagpur civic authorities have a dust removing equipment / vehicle. Using that now makes sense. This dust also exposed the substandard quality of city roads, thanks to irregularities owing NMC’c apathy.
