City reports five accidental deaths within 24 hours

Nagpur: In all five accidental death cases were reported in city with two persons committing suicide by hanging while three persons consumed poisonous substance to end their lives. The deceased include two married women and three men. The unnatural deaths were reported over a period of 24 hours.

In the first case, a newly married young woman named Rupali Pravin Meher (23), resident of Plot No. 29, Kalele Layout, Arya Nagar, ended her life by hanging to a ceiling fan in her house around 1.45 pm on Wednesday.

Based on a complaint filed by Usha Devidas Meher (55), Koradi PSI Dhanorkar has registered a case of accidental death and probing the matter from all angles.

Another young married woman, identified as Pournima Sanjay Ganvir (28) of MHADA Colony in Jaripatka area, consumed poisonous substance and committed suicide in her residence. Pournima took the noxious stuff at about 1.30 pm on Tuesday. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital but died in the wee hours of Thursday while undergoing treatment.

Jaripatka PSI A Y Bakal registered a case of accidental death and probing the matter thoroughly.

A 34-year old man named Nilesh Goutam Gawande, resident of Surendragadh, near Masjid, took the extreme step by consuming a poisonous substance on Tuesday. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Mayo Hospital. However, Nilesh died at 10 am on Wednesday.

Gittikhadan PSI Deshmukh who is investigating the matter has registered a case of accidental death.

A Jattarodi-based man Deepak Bansilal Shahu (35), on Tuesday around 6 pm, too consumed a substance of poisonous nature with the motive of ending his life. Deepak was rushed to GMCH in critical condition. He died in the midnight of Thursday.

Imamwada API Bele has registered a case of unnatural death and investigating the matter further.

In the fifth incident, Rajesh Sharadchandra Pande (46), resident of Dhangarpura, near Tatya Tope Nagar, took the extreme step by hanging to a hook of wall in his house. On the information given by deceased’s wife Rajashree, Pratap Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death and launched a probe into the matter.
