City police to soon have new Zone V for better policing

Formal merger of Old Kamptee, New Kamptee, Hingna police stations with Nagpur Commissionerate on May 14

Nagpur: The Second Capital City of Nagpur will soon have a new zone the Zone V the proposal of which has been forwarded to Director General of Police (DGP). With the creation of Zone V, a number of new posting of higher officials and subordinates is likely to be done in the coming days.

Notably, three rural police stations namely Old Kamptee, New Kamptee and Hingna have been merged with Nagpur Commissionerate hence the new zone is being created for better policing in the city. Moreover, a couple of new police stations, Mankapur and Shantinagar, too have been established and two more, Bajaj Nagar and Besa Beltarodi, are on the pipeline. Once the appropriate place is found out, these two new police stations would also be opened.

With increasing workload, the need for the fifth zone was being felt by the city police set up. A proposal in this regard was sent to Home Department and Director General of Police. The proposal was approved and a new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and two officers of ACP level are likely to be posted to handle the new zone.

Talking to Nagpur Today, the Joint Commissioner of Police Rajwardhan said that the formal merger of Old Kamptee, New Kamptee and Hingna Police Stations with Nagpur Commissinerate will be done soon. Thereafter, the new zone the Zone V will be created.

The new zone will have the two Kamptee police stations as well as Kalamna, Yashodhara Nagar and Koradi police stations. According to sources, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is likely to grace the merger function on May 14. DGP Pravin Dixit will also attend the programme.

During the function, an announcement regarding the new police stations that could not be opened would be made.
