Chargesheet against Tarun Bharat’s chairman, others for publishing ‘matka’ numbers

Nagpur: The satta bazaar or betting market, commonly known as ‘matka’ has been flourishing among the masses, thanks to the daily newspapers which publish the draws on regular basis. Nagpur too has reportedly emerged as a big matka den where, sources informed, crores of rupees change hands everyday in the murky betting game. However, Solapur police commissionerate had woken up to this crime. The police commissioner at Solapur has filed chargesheet in the court against 6 newspapers being circulated. These include the known names like Marathi dailies Tarun Bharat and Punya Nagari. The case was earlier registered in March at Vijapur Naka police station in Solapur.

The case was registered as per the complaint of Assistant police inspector Vaibhav Mali who had alleged that these newspapers publish matka numbers under the names Mumbai and Kalyan. This only provokes the people to get into this murky affair.

Apart from Tarun Bharat and Punya Nagari others newspapers implicated in the case are Sanchar, Surajya, Kesari and Dainik Janpravas.

The cases have been registered against Tarun Bharat’s Chairman Vivek Ghalsasi, the then Editor Narayan Karanjkar, printer and publisher Dilip Dulange along with existing editor Vijay Kumar Pise, Punya Nagari’s Editor and Chairman Arvind Murlidhar Shingote, Sanchar’s owner Dharamraj Kadadi, new editor Jaiprakash Abhange, Surajya’s owner Rakesh Tolye and executive editor Rajkumar Narute, Dainik Kesari’s owner Dr Deepak Tilak, executive editor Sukrut Khandekar and the editor and owner of Dainik Janpravas Sanjay Bhokre.
