Chain snatchers rock in Ambazari; two incidents in an hour

Waylayers and chain-snatchers had a field day on Tuesday in Ambazari area where an elderly woman and a middle-aged man were relieved of their gold chains worth Rs 60,000 and Rs 2 lakh respectively within an hour.

In the first instance, a 66-year-old man B Chandrashekhar Naidu was returning home along with his wife after visiting Madrasi temple on Thursday on his Scooter (MH 31 AC 4407). Two unidentified youths approached the couple at around 9 pm at Ram Nagar LIT turning road on their pulsar bike and snatched away a gold chain worth Rs 60,000 worn by the elderly woman.

On the basis of the complaint by B Chandrashekhar, Ambazari police have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC.

Another waylaying incident took place just within an hour in Amazari area where a middle-aged man was first thrashed and then was relieved of his two gold chains worth Rs 2 lakh.

According to information, a resident of Godhni Road, Dhirendra alias Jagdishprasad Tiwari (39), was returning home from his Land Developers office in his Swift car (MH 40 AC 2699) on Thursday at 9.20 pm. Under the jurisdiction of Amabzari police station, Ajit Tripathi and his mate asked Dhirendra to stop the car near Bharat Nagar, in front of Chaitanya Apartment. After Dhirendra’s car came to halt, Ajit and his mate thrashed Dhirendra and snatched away his two gold chains worth Rs 2 lakh. The thieves left the injured Dhirendra and sped away on their motorcycle.

Dhirendra approached Amazari police and lodged a complaint against Ajit and his friend. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC and booked the accused.
