Cattle smuggling foiled in Pachpaoli, 11 animals rescued

Nagpur: In a case of animal cruelty, Pachpaoli Police rescued 11 cattle that were being inhumanely transported for slaughter in a Bolero vehicle near Farooq Nagar, Tekawasti area of Nagpur on Sunday morning.

Following a tip-off, police raided the location and found the animals crammed inside the vehicle (MH 36 AA 3470) without food or water. The cattle were tied tightly and transported in a cruel and unsafe manner. Preliminary investigation revealed that the animals belonged to Shahbaz Qureshi, aged between 25-30 years, who is currently absconding.

The rescued cattle were handed over to a local gaushala for protection. Police also seized the vehicle and other materials, with the total seizure valued at Rs 6.30 lakh.

A case has been registered under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 (Amended 1995) and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, against the accused. The complaint was filed by Police Constable Dilip Pawar, and further investigation is underway under PSI Gajanan Maind.
