Cash, ornaments worth Rs 1.31 lakh stolen from bags of two women

Nagpur: Two women were robbed of cash, mobile phone and gold ornaments to the tune of Rs 1.31 lakh in two separate incidents reported under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar and Kotwali police stations.

In the first incident, Joshvin George Gawande (67) resident of Plot. No. 22 Mil Coloney, taluka Achalpur, district Amravati boarded an auto at Ganeshpeth bus-stop for going to Sainagar on Hudkeshwar road around 2 pm on Monday. She disembarked the auto and went home. However, when the complainant opened her bag, she was taken aback to see that the cash, mobile phone along with her gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 96,300 were missing.

Subsequently, complainant rushed to Hudkeshwar police station and filed a complaint against anonymous woman or man travelling in the auto for burgling the booty.

In another case reported under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Police Station, a native of Seoni, Chaya Mahedra Vishwakarma (48) went for shopping with her sister around 7.30 pm on Monday. In the midway, when the complainant was busy shopping in front of Mehak Enterprises on Kelibagh road, an unidentified person distracted her attention and burgled Rs 35,000 cash kept in a handbag.

Kotwali police has registered a case under Section 379 of IPC and started probe.
