Car Sale Fraud : Man duped of Rs 6.65 lakh

Nagpur: A man from Bhandara ended up losing Rs 6.65 lakh in the name of buying an Innova car. Koradi police have booked three people for the fraud.

The accused have been identified as Chetan Sanjay Mandavkar, a resident of Ward No 1, Panjra; Karti Gangadhar Chatap and his brother Chaitanya Chatap, both residents of Plot No 4, Natraj Cooperative Society, Nara.

A resident of Bhandara, Rajesh Maroti Bhure (35) lodged a complaint with the police that the accused trio approached him on September 10 last as he wanted to buy a car.They agreed to sell an Innova car (MH-40/AR-7670) belonging to Ravindra Bhagatkar for Rs 7.65 lakh.

Chetan Mandavkar posed as the car owner Ravindra Bhagatkar. They then collected Rs 7.65 lakh from him but did not transfer the car in his name at RTO office. When the fraud came to light, they gave him Rs one lakh and did not return the remaining amount of Rs 6.65 lakh.

On the basis of Bhure’s complaint, police registered an offence under Sections 419, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused trio. WPSI Nirmala Bade is investigating the case.
