The Calcutta High Court’s Chief Justice bench has now quashed the single bench’s order allowing BJP’s yatra in West Bengal.

The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government on Wednesday had approached the Chief Justice’s division bench challenging the Calcutta High Court’s single bench order permitting the BJP ‘save democracy’ Rath-Yatra in the state.

The Calcutta high court on Thursday gave the go ahead for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Rath Yatra’ in West Bengal, quashing the state government’s decision to refuse permission over apprehensions of communal unrest but set some conditions.
However, the state government challenged the single bench order and the Calcutta High Court has now quashed the order.

On Thursday, the Calcutta High Court allowed the BJP to proceed with its Rath Yatra in West Bengal which is perceived as a major setback to the Mamata Banerjee government.

The Court gave permission to BJP to hold three yatras in West Bengal and directed that the administration should ensure that there is no breach of law and order.

The ball is now back with the BJP.
