CAIT launches campaign to encourage maximum people to vote

Nagpur: With a view to ensure that maximum people exercise their right of franchise in the forthcoming elections, Confederation of all India Traders (CAIT) has launched a countrywide awareness campaign amongst citizens. The campaign will kick off in Nagpur from April 6 and will continue till 9th.

In a meeting of CAIT Nagpur, charied by Chairman Gopal Agarwal and presided over by President Kishore Dharashivkar, it was decided that the campaign will begin on the morning of April wherein CAIT members will visit places of morning walkers. The CAIT members carrying banners will raise slogans and appeal to the morning walkers to spread the message of voting. During the day, the campaign will be carried out in market places. Later in the day, the CAIT members will visit Futula Lake and also visit the areas where evening walkers gather to spread their message. The attempt is to target maximum areas and increase the voting percentage, the CAIT members informed.

Banners and posters will be put on e-rickshaws as part of the campaign to spread the message of exercising voting rights, informed Gopal Agrawal.

President Kishore Dharashivkar said that all the market areas will be targeted through their respective associations to spread awareness amongst the traders, their employees and the customers visiting their shops. Chhaya Sharma and Jayshee Gupta said that a large number of women will participate in the campaign and try to cover as much area as possible.

Convenor of youth wing, Sapna Talreja said a team of youth volunteers will be formed who will meet youths, especially the first time voters and encourage them to exercise their right.

CAIT National President B C Bhartia said this is a purely non-political movement. It is encouraged by Election Commission of India’s s idea of highest percentage of voting. In this campaign, CAIT will not recommend to vote for any particular candidate or party. The objective is that maximum people vote during the elections.

Those present at the meeting included Prabhakar Deshmukh, Rajkumar Gupta, Gyaneshwar Rakshak, Ravindra Gupta, Nikhilesh Thakar, S Bhutoliya, Banty Telmasare, Vinod Gupta, Satish Bang, Madhu Trivedi, Jyoti Awasthi, Sanjeevani Choudhary, Rajni Agnihotri, Meena Basek, Anita Totewar and others, informed CAIT Nagpur Secretary General Farooque Akbani.
