The complainant, Pramila Mahipal Tripathi (42), resident of Plot No. 40A, Talmale Layout, Butibori, told police that her husband was working in Indoworth Company in Butibori. But since the company closed in 2020, Mahipal decided to purchase a transport vehicle for business purpose. Subsequently, Mahipal went to Gondkhairi in August 2023 to see old four-wheelers. There, he met the accused Atul Ambore of Nagpur who told Mahipal that he runs an investment company named Chancelons Investments and its office is in Nagpur. The accused told Mahipal that he will arrange a good four-wheeler. The accused gave Mahipal his phone number and asked him to his Nagpur office.

On August 31, 2023, the Tripathi couple went to the office of the accused Atul Ambore. Ambore asked the couple about their budget. Mahipal said that their budget is of Rs 3.50 lakh. Later, Ambore showed them a photo of a school bus (MH-40/Y 1298). The accused also told them that he will spend Rs 20,000 for repairs of the school bus and sell them after 7-15 days. The accused also offered a job to Mahipal at his place for month salary of Rs 15,000. The accused also took Mahipal’s Aadhaar Card, PAN card and mobile phone number.

On September 1, 2023, the accused Ambore came to the house of the Tripathi couple and told them that the school bus has been registered in Mahipal’s name and demanded Rs 3.50 lakh. When Mahipal said that since the school bus has not been shown to them, they will not pay the money. But the accused told them to pay the money immediately or the school bus will not be given. Subsequently, Mahipal transferred Rs 2.35 lakh to the account of Chancelons Investments and Rs 1.35 lakh to the account of the accused Ambore. Mahipal also paid Rs 44,000 to the accused for various works.

As Mahipal was working with the accused for five months, he only paid Rs 55,000 instead of Rs 75,000. However, the accused Ambore neither provided the school bus nor returned the money of the Tripathi couple and thus cheated them

Butibori police, on the basis of the complaint, booked the accused Atul Ambore under Sections 420, 506 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
