Burglars target two marriage parties, a woman travelling in auto, rob booty worth Rs 2,77000

Burglars on Sunday targeted two marriage parties and a woman travelling in auto and robbed them of their cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 2,77,000. No arrests have been effected in the crimes.

In the first incident, the complainant Arvind Shankarrao Wasnik (38), resident of Ujjwal Nagar Road, Nagpur was hosting a reception for his daughter’s marriage at Kusumtai Wankhede Hall in front of Alankar Talkies, Dharampeth on Sunday. During the reception, the gifts received from guests were kept in a bag. However, around 3 pm, Arvind Wasnik found the bag containing cash envelopes and gold jewellery missing. Enquiries revealed an unidentified woman in the age group of 45-50 years laid her hands on the bag and vanished from the scene. The bag contained cash of Rs 2,00,000 in gifted envelopes and gold jewellery worth Rs 14,000.

Sitabuldi PSI Mate, on the basis of a complaint filed by Arvind Wasnik, has booked the unidentified accused woman burglar under Section 379 and searching for her.

In the second incident, the complainant Mala Rajendra Chakole (45), native of Thoriya Layout, Damayanti Deshmukh Nagar, Ramtek had come to Nagpur for attending her niece’s marriage on Sunday. The marriage was being held at Khedule Kunbi Samaj Hall in Mhalgi Nagar, Nagpur. For changing cloths, Mala went to a room of the hall and kept her purse on a table. While Mala was busy in changing her cloths, an unidentified woman opened her purse and removed a cash of Rs 7,000 and gold tops worth Rs 6000 and decamped.

Sakkardara Chavan has booked the unidentified accused woman under Section 379 of the IPC and searching for her.

A woman travelling in an auto was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 50,000. According to police, Rekha Krushnarao Divtelwar (52), native of Nagardhan, Ramtek, along with husband had come to Nagpur. Both boarded an auto from Variety Square for going to her nephew’s house. On the way, between Dhantoli and Deo Nagar Square, an unidentified woman (30-35) and a boy (10-12) diverted Rekha’s attention and grabbed the gold chain she was wearing. Later, both the accused thieves disembarked from the auto and vanished. When Rekha discovered that she has been robbed of her gold chain lodged a complaint with Dhantoli Police Station in this connection.

Dhantoli PSI Salunke has registered an offence under Sections 379, 34 of the IPC and searching for the accused woman and the boy.
