Burglars get richer and ‘healthy’ after striking Mevawala shop near Panchsheel Talkies Sq

Nagpur News: Burglars got richer and “healthy” when they struck at a shop of dry fruits in the busy Panchsheel Talkies Square in the wee hours of Wednesday (March 12).

According to police, Mahavir Mevawala, owned by Adv Arun Kotecha, was targeted by the thieves. The burglars smashed locks of shutter and entered the shop full of almonds, pistachio, cashew, raisin and other dry fruits. The criminals swept the Mevawala shop with Rs 25,000 cash and dry fruits worth Rs 1,00,000. When Adv Arun Kotecha received the information about the theft in his shop, he along with his brother Atul Kotecha, General Secretary of City Congress, reached the shop. They informed the Sitabuldi police about the incident. A police team along with finger print experts reached the spot and started their investigation. The Mevawala shop is equipped with CCTV cameras and the police were scanning the footage of the CCTV cameras in order to get any clues about the burglars.

The dry fruit shop has also office of Adv Arun Kotecha’s newspaper. Sitabuldi police have registered an offence of theft and are probing the matter further.
