Budding engineer from city dies in bike-truck crash on Pune-Mumbai Expressway

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a budding engineer from Nagpur was killed on the spot along with his friend when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a speeding truck on Pune-Mumbai Expressway in the wee hours of Thursday (October 13).

The deceased city youth has been identified as Jeet Gehani (24), a resident of Jaripatka. His friend is identified only by his first name Dhananjay, native of Mumbai. Jeet Gehani had completed his engineering from Ramdev Baba College of Engineering, and was employed in a well known company named TIKONA, located in Pune.

According to information reaching here, Jeet and Dhananjay had reportedly planned a leisure trip to hill station Khandala on Thursday. Jeet was riding the bike and Dhananjay was pillion and were proceeding to the destination on on Pune-Mumbai Expressway. When they reached near Lonavala around 2.45 am, their motorcycle collided with a speeding truck with forceful impact. As a result, Jeet and Dhananjay suffered grievous injuries. While Jeet died on the spot, Dhananjay was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors there pronounced him brought dead, according to an official of Highway Police.
