Booty worth Rs 1.03 lakh stolen from sealed beer bar in Mankapur, 1 goon arrested

A beer bar and restaurant, sealed on the orders of Supreme Court, was struck by two miscreants who stole a TV, ceiling fan and liquor bottles collectively worth Rs 1.03 lakh. One of the accused has been arrested.

The beer bar named Sarkar Bar and Restaurant is situated at Plot No. 17, Utthan Nagar, Ring Road. The bar is owned by Hemant Ramdas Pali (50), resident of Plot No. 77, Gurunanakpura, Pachpaoli. The bar was sealed following the Supreme Court order banning all liquor outlets within 500 metres of national and state highways across the country, a move aimed at reducing drunken driving and road accidents that claim thousands of lives every year. The ban came into force from April 1, 2017. According the Sarkar Bar and Restaurant was closed and sealed.

The owner of the bar Hemant Pali told Mankapur police that the two accused Abhay Dhanraj Deshpande (25), resident of Punjabi Line, Motibagh and Santosh Shankar Fulmali of Gaddigodam entered the bar by smashing the lock and seal around 2.30 pm on July 31, 2017 and took away a TV, ceiling fan and liquor bottles collectively worth Rs 1.03 lakh.

On the basis of Pali’s complaint, Mankapur PSI V N Atram booked the two accused under Sections 461, 380 of the IPC and managed to arrest one of the accused Abhay Deshpande. Search is on to apprehend other accused Santosh Fulmali.
