Nagpur: Cricket fans in the city can gear up for an exciting start to the India–New Zealand T20 series, with online ticket sales for the opening match at VCA’s Jamtha Stadium set to begin on January 17. The first T20 International of the five-match series will be played on January 21, marking the return of a T20I to Jamtha after September 2022, when India defeated Australia in a rain-curtailed contest.
Tickets for the general public will be available from 10 am onwards through the official ticketing partner, District by Zomato, via its mobile application and website (district.in). As per VCA guidelines, each buyer can book a maximum of two tickets, linked to a single mobile number and email ID.
Members’ ticket sale from January 13
VCA Life Members and affiliated clubs will have early access to tickets, with offline sales scheduled from January 13 to 15 at Bilimoria Hall, VCA, Civil Lines, between 9.30 am and 9 pm. Members must produce their newly issued VCA Membership ID cards to collect tickets. A member may collect tickets for up to four other members by presenting their valid ID cards, while authorised representatives can do so only with written authority letters and membership IDs.
Each Life Member and affiliated club is entitled to one complimentary ticket in the air-conditioned members’ box. Members also have the option to exchange their complimentary ticket for one of a lower denomination, if desired. In addition, members can purchase up to four extra tickets of any category. Selected schools will be offered tickets at concessional rates.
Tickets booked online must be redeemed between January 18 and 20 at Bilimoria Hall. Notably, no ticket redemption facility will be available at Jamtha Stadium on match day.
Match-day arrangements
Subject to police permission, the stadium gates will open at 4 pm (IST) on match day. Spectators have been advised to carry cash for food purchases, as network and internet connectivity issues often hamper digital payments at the venue.
To ensure smooth transportation, VCA has arranged bus services for pick-up and drop from New Airport Metro Station, along with shuttle buses from the designated parking area near the UltraTech Cement Plant to the Jamtha Stadium T-point. The association has also requested the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to operate additional city buses and urged Maha Metro to run extra services up to New Airport Metro Station on the day of the match.
Teams’ arrival and preparations
The New Zealand team is scheduled to arrive in Nagpur by chartered flight on January 19, while selected Indian T20 players are also expected to assemble in the city the same day. According to VCA, the Jamtha Stadium is fully prepared to host the high-profile encounter, with adequate free parking and free drinking water facilities in place.
After the Nagpur opener, the series will move to Raipur (Jan 23), Guwahati (Jan 25), Visakhapatnam (Jan 28) and conclude at Thiruvananthapuram (Jan 31).
