Bogus vigilance officer, police robbed two of gold ornaments

Nagpur News : Tricksters claiming themselves as vigilance officers and police officers robbed two people of their gold ornaments within 15 minutes in separate incidents on Wednesday morning.

At Ganeshpeth around 11.30, a 58-year-old L. Ramallu Swami, a resident of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, was walking from to Central railway station when three men stopped him. One of them introduced him as a vigilance officer and told Swami not to wear gold ornaments especially during election period. While Swami removed the gold ring worth Rs 10,000, the trio easily robbed the ring.
Minutes after the trio left, Swami learnt about the robbery and alerted police.

Fifteen minutes after, Vakilpeth resident Jija Ghrade, 61 filed complaint at Imambada police station of three men posing as police robbed her gold ornaments worth Rs 1.69 lakhs.
Gharade mentioned in her complaint that three men sopped her near Reshimbagh Square and one of them introduced him as police. As suggested, Gharade removed her gold chain, bangles and two rings which were later sneaked away by the tricksters.
