Nagpur: Panic spread in the Pardi police station area after the body of a 50-year-old woman was found near the Punapur nullah on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Phuleshia Nohar Bharti, who worked at a sawmill.
According to police, Phuleshia had left her home around 8 am on Friday to report for work at the sawmill. However, she did not reach her workplace and was not seen by her family members thereafter.
Her relatives reportedly told police that Phuleshia had a habit of consuming alcohol and would sometimes remain away from home for several days. As she failed to return home after leaving for work, her whereabouts became a matter of concern.
The matter took a grim turn on Saturday morning when her body was found near the Punapur nullah. On receiving information, personnel from Pardi police station rushed to the spot and took the body into custody.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
Investigators are examining her movements after she left home on Friday morning and are also trying to determine how she reached the area near the nullah. The exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem examination.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear at this stage. The investigation, along with the post-mortem report, is expected to shed light on whether she died accidentally or whether any other factor was involved.
The police are also gathering information from family members and others who may have seen Phuleshia after she left home for work.
