
New Delhi: A powerful explosion rocked the Red Fort area on Monday evening around 6:30 p.m., leaving one person dead and sparking panic among locals and tourists. The blast reportedly occurred in a vehicle parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
The impact of the explosion shattered window panes of nearby buildings and set two vehicles ablaze. Firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control, while police cordoned off the area and began evacuating people from the vicinity.
A bomb disposal squad and forensic teams are examining the site to determine the cause of the explosion. Initial reports suggest that the source of the blast is still unclear, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror angle.
