Nagpur: City Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Krushna Khopde strongly rallied behind the senior party leader and former Mayor Kalpana Pandey who was trapped by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a retired teacher.
Coming in support of Kalpana Pandey, the City BJP President charged that she was victim of a well-planned conspiracy. Khopde further said that apart from being a senior party leader, Kalpana Pandey was a former Mayor.
“I have worked with her closely on several occasions. I myself and the party have full faith in her. The conspiracy and the conspirators must be exposed. At present the matter is under investigation and the truth will come out soon,” hoped the BJP City President.
Meanwhile, the arrested senior BJP leader Kalpana Pandey was granted bail by a court.
Kalpana Pandey terms bribery allegations as totally baseless, ready to face probe
The BJP leader and former Mayor Kalpana Pandey, who was arrested by ACB for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a retired teacher, termed the allegations as totally baseless. “I am ready for any enquiry. I will come out clean and spotless,” affirmed Kalpana Pandey.
In a press release, Kalpana Pandey said that the said teacher retired in July 2014. “Her pension case was sent to concerned department in January 2015 itself. No bribe was demanded from the retired teacher. She received the gratuity payment after retirement. At that time also, not a single rupee was demanded from her by me or the institute. In the meanwhile, AG Office sent a letter to the school mentioning drawing of excess salary by mistake. This mistake was brought to the notice of the retired teacher and the bank through a letter. The last salary of July was also received by the teacher. I have not demanded any bribe from the teacher nor the school has demanded money,” clarified Kalpana Pandey.
Pandey further said that she is not office-bearer of the institute. She is just a member. The said teacher Sapana Jaisinghani was transferred to Chhanulal School from Madangopal Agrawal School as she was excess there. “At that time I had opposed her transfer to Chhanulal School. Because of this fact, the teacher had threatened of a sort of action against me,” stated Pandey.
“I am in no way guilty in this episode. Similarly, my party (BJP) is solidly standing behind me. Therefore my morale is high. I am ready to face any enquiry in this connection,” asserted the former Mayor Kalpana Pandey.
