BJP MLA Mallikarjun Reddy demands Rs 500 bonus for state’s paddy growers

Nagpur: With the bumper arrival of paddy crops this season, the rates have slipped this year as compared to what the farmers got during the last season. Sensing the considerable loss to the farmers, BJP MLA Mallikarjun Reddy has demanded Rs 500 bonus per quintal to contain the loss.

Raising this demand in the ongoing winter assembly session on Friday, Reddy informed that last year the paddy was sold at MSP of Rs 3200 whereas this year the price has been stagnant at Rs 2820 per quintal. To contain the loss, the government should provide the bonus of Rs 500 per quintal to help paddy growers emerge from the big loss.
