“Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is strongly supports creation of smaller states for effective governance and development works. But the way in which Congress party divided Andhra Pradesh, BJP opposes such divisive system. New states should be formed in cooperation and in goodwill atmosphere,” said State BJP President Devendra Fadnavis while participating in a public debate in Mumbai.
The debate was organized on the subject “Youth decides India’s future” to mark Golden Jubilee of Vivekanand Education Society. Fadnavis and reputed writer Chetan Bhagat participated in the debate and expressed their thoughts in a lively manner. The remarks made by Fadnavis on smaller states including Vidarbha were in response to a query raised by Chetan Bhagat. BJP State Treasurer Shaina NC was also present at the debate along with hundreds of young girls and boys.
Fadnavis further said, “Congress party divided Andhra Pradesh and created Telangana State. In this process, a strong resentment and fight erupted between the two states who were like brothers until then. BJP does not want such happening. The original state and new state should co-exist amicably and should create cooperative atmosphere. This way, BJP would form smaller states,” asserted Fadnavis.
“BJP created Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh for effective governance and appropriate development. Today, these three smaller states are progressing well. Moreover, Jharkhand, which was notoriously categorized as BIMARU region, has made its name as progressive state in world map,” stressed Fadnavis.
