Nagpur: Tension prevailed at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University on Monday after workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha staged a protest over various student-related issues.
The agitation was held against the alleged delay in declaration of examination results, irregularities in the examination system, and what protesters described as the negligent attitude of the university administration. Demonstrators claimed that the future of thousands of students was being adversely affected due to administrative apathy.
During the protest, BJP and BJYM workers gathered outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office and raised slogans against the university administration. The situation turned tense when an agitated protester allegedly vandalised flower pots placed in the premises, creating chaos in the area.
Police personnel deployed at the spot immediately intervened and took the concerned protester along with a few other agitators into custody to bring the situation under control.
Following the incident, a tense atmosphere prevailed on the university campus for some time. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
