The Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party may be reaching an uneasy truce in Maharashtra for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The two parties are likely to arrive at 23-25 seat sharing formula between the BJP and the Shiv Sena in Mahrashtra. Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats.
According to sources, the Shiv Sena had demanded an equal 24-24 seat sharing distributed between it and the BJP. However, the Sena also wanted the Palgahar seat, which the BJP had won in a bypoll in May last year.
The BJP however is not willing to give up Palghar and so has instead agreed to give Shiv Sena a total of 25 seats. The BJP itself would then contest on 23 seats.
