Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is a National Standards body functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
BIS, Nagpur Branch Office has organized a Manak Samvad & Manak Manthan on IS 3315:2024 Direct Evaporative Air Cooler – Specification (Fourth Revision) held on 25 Feb 2026 at The Seven Hotel.
The programme was conducted in two sessions. Both sessions were delivered by Shri Sandesh Gokanwar, Scientist-B / Joint Director, BIS Nagpur Branch Office.

In the first session — Manak Samvad, organized for prospective and new licensees, participants were sensitized about BIS certification requirements. Key topics covered included Conditions of Licence, Design of the ISI Mark, important BIS online links, and an overview of BIS activities and procedures. The session aimed to facilitate better understanding of the certification process and regulatory requirements for obtaining BIS licence.
In the second session — Manak Manthan, was held on IS 3315:2024 Direct Evaporative Air Cooler — Specification (Fourth Revision). The revised standard was presented and discussed in detail.
Participants actively shared suggestions and observations based on their practical experience and academic knowledge, and the comments received are being compiled for further necessary action regarding the Indian Standard.
Shri Hemant B Ade, Director & Head, BIS Nagpur Branch Office, was also present during the session and encouraged the participants to obtain licence as per the revised standard to ensure better product quality and enhanced consumer protection.
Manufacturers present were also informed about the procedure for obtaining BIS licence and were encouraged to apply for certification. The overall programme proved highly fruitful, and participants expressed keen interest in more such awareness and technical programmes in the future.
