Bikers take to snatching bags in city

Nagpur News: The notorious chain snatchers have struck again, this targeting bags as well as jewellery. Two separate incidents were reported in the city today, both under Ambazari Police Station.

In the first case, twenty five year old Akansha Madan Mohatkare, a resident of Hingna, was driving from Ramnagar to Yeshwant Nagar when two unidentified people on a bike drove close to her two- wheeler (MH31 ED 6216), forcing her to stop. Confusion then ensued at the scene as both vehicles tried to get way first, and the culprits snatched up Akansha’ bag from her vehicle’s footboard in the process. The bag contained Rs. 2000 cash, an ATM card, cheques and important personal documents.

In the second case, twenty four year old Meenal Ramesh Bhimanwar, a Bajaj Nagar Resident, was returning from a grocery store when two unknown people on a Honda Activa snatched her gold chain from her neck and sped off.

Based on the victims’ complaints, Ambazari police have filed two separates cases under Sections 392 and 43 of the Indian Penal Code.
