Bhiwandi/Nagpur: In a shameful incident, a seven-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted and later set on fire in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra.
Three people have been arrested in the case. The boy has suffered 30 per cent burn injuries. According to reports, the accused was known to the boy. He was taken to an isolated spot where he was assaulted and later put on fire.
Early reports also suggest that the boy tried to show some resistance to the assault and managed to escape. He is being treated at the Thane civil hospital.
A case has been registered under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 377 (sodomy) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The incident took place on Saturday.
