Nagpur: A minor argument over a broken beer bottle turned into a violent street clash in Nagpur’s Jaripatka area, leaving four youths seriously injured after members of two groups allegedly attacked each other with a knife and fighter weapon.
The shocking incident created panic and chaos near Khobragade Chowk late on the night of May 19.
According to police sources, Anshul Chavre had gone to a wine shop near Khobragade Chowk along with his friends Ayuk alias Malla Vinod Meshram and Prajwal alias Dabbu Prashant Patil to purchase liquor. At the same time, their acquaintance Prakash Thakur was already present at the spot with two to three of his associates.
Investigators said the dispute began after Anshul’s motorcycle allegedly brushed against Prakash Thakur, causing the beer bottle in his hand to fall and shatter on the ground.
The situation quickly escalated after Prakash allegedly slapped Malla in anger. What initially started as a verbal argument soon turned into a violent confrontation between the two groups.
Eyewitnesses claimed that during the clash, one of Prakash’s associates allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Anshul, stabbing him near the stomach and lower chest area. His friends Malla and Dabbu were also injured in the assault.
In retaliation, the rival group allegedly launched a counterattack using a fighter weapon, seriously injuring Prakash Thakur.
The sudden violence outside the wine shop triggered fear among local residents and passersby as screams and commotion spread through the area.
After receiving information about the incident, Jaripatka Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Police have registered cases against both groups and initiated an investigation into the exact sequence of events and the role of each accused involved in the clash.
Officials said CCTV footage from the area is being examined to reconstruct the incident and identify all those involved in the violent attack.
The incident has once again raised concerns over rising violent tendencies among youths, where even trivial disputes are increasingly escalating into dangerous and life-threatening confrontations.
