Bank unions decide to protest on delay in wage revision

The All India Central Executive Committee meeting of National Organization of Bank Workers (NOBW) held a meeting at Nagpur on Oct 20-21, 2013. The NOBW has decided to hold its 17th All India Conference on Feb 5-6, 2014 at Nagpur which will be the Golden Jubilee Year of the organization. NOBW was formed on February 5,  1965 at Nagpur. The Central Executive Committee of NOBW opposed the proposals of the RBI Governor that RBI will soon announce certain reform measures in the banking sector that will allow foreign banks to enter India in a big way and would even enable them to take over our banks and new licenses to corporate houses.

Our public sector banks are the mainstay and backbone of our economy and every effort should be taken to strengthten our banks rather than hand them over to these foreign banks.

CEC has also taken a note that government giving any offer of wage revision for the bank employees. The Government has announced 7th Pay Commission for Central Govt Employees which is due in 2016. Wheras bank employees wage revision is due from Nov 2012, but till date the government  has not given any proposal of wage hike.

Under the banner of UFBU, the bank employees will hold demonstrations on Oct 22, 2013, at all major centers. After Oct 22, 2013 the unions will decide further cource of alitional actions including strikes. This was informed by General Secretary of NOBW Ashwani Rana in a press release.
