Nagpur News : The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the President’s Standard to 112 Helicopter Unit (HU) and Colours to No. 4 Base Repair Depot (BRD) of Indian Air Force today at Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh).

Governor of UP Shri B L Joshi was present during the award ceremony. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal HB Rajaram AVSM VSM, Air Officer-in-charge Administration, Air Marshal P Kanakaraj AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQ MC),IAF, Air Vice Marshal VS Bharti YSM VM VSM, Senior Air & Administrative Staff Officer (SAASO), HQ MC, IAF, Air Vice Marshal JV Singh Air Officer In-charge Logistics Management (AOLM) HQ MC, IAF along with other senior Defence and Civilian officials were also present in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that award of the Standard to
112 Helicopter Unit and Colours to 4 Base Repair Depot is in recognition of their outstanding performance over the years. He expressed confidence that these Units would continue to strive for excellence with professional zeal and serve the Nation selflessly in the years to come. He complimented all the Air Warriors, Civilians and families of 112 HU and 4 BRD for their dedication and devotion to service.

The President said that Indian Air Force has been commendably executing its mandate of protecting the Indian skies and safeguarding the sovereignty of our Nation. It has also remained at the forefront of providing relief and aid to our citizens during various natural calamities. The resilience and tenacity displayed by the Air Warriors both while undertaking operational commitments as well as during disaster relief contingencies is a great source of strength and also a matter of immense pride for the Nation.

Defence PRO informed that 112 Helicopter Unit (The President’s Standard winner) was raised on 01 August, 1963. The Unit is a premier training establishment and has been consistently training pilots, flight engineers and flight gunners for achieving highest professional standards. For its gallant role in various operations, personnel of the Unit have earned 02 Vir Chakras, 01 Yudh Seva Medal and 02 Vayusena Medals, apart from several commendations by Chiefs of the Air Staff and Air Officers Commanding-in-Chief. About 4 Base Repair Depot (The President’s Colours winner), Wing Commander Samir Gangakhedkar Defence PRO, Nagpur informed that it was established on December 1, 1965. Since its inception, the Unit has specialized in repairing and overhauling turbo-jet aero engines. The Unit has been accredited with IS/ISO 9001: 2008 Certification. The personnel have been awarded 05 Vishisht Seva Medals and numerous commendations by Chiefs of the Air Staff and Air Officers Commanding-in-Chief.
