Auto driver manhandles, threatens RTO Inspector on duty, arrested

Ganeshpeth police have arrested an auto driver on the charges of manhandling, abusing and threatening a Motor Vehicle Inspector working in Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Tuesday.

The Motor Vehicle Inspector Nitin Gangaram Uike (37) along with other staff of RTO was inspecting vehicles near Mokshadham ST Workshop around 1 pm on Tuesday. The RTO Inspector Uike stopped the auto (MH-31/CV 7028) for paper inspection. Angered by the action of Uike, the unidentified auto driver suddenly started manhandling and abusing him. The accused auto driver even threatened the RTO Inspector of dire consequences if he initiates any action. Taken aback by the offending behavior of the auto driver, the RTO Inspector Uike lodged a complaint with Ganeshpeth Police Station in this regard.

PSI Nannavare booked the auto driver under Sections 353, 294, 506(B) of IPC and arrested him.
