Attack on youth creates tension near railway station, two accused arrested

Nagpur News: A group of goons attacked a 25-year-old youth with sharp weapons in an attempt to end his life and injured his father who tried to rescue his son, on Sunday under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi Police Station. Police said, the incident which occurred around 12.30 pm on Sunday, was an outcome of an old rivalry. The victim, Vikrant Manoj Wasnik (25), a resident of Trisharan Square, Ajni, was attacked by a group of youths when he was standing in front of Sujata Wine Shop, under bridge in front of Railway Station.

The accused have been identified as Preetam; Dheeraj Shyam Malik (20), and Rohit alias Golu Sunil Parosiya (21), both residents of a resident of Juni Mangalwari, Gangabai ghat, Sweepar Colony, near Durgamata Mandir; and Namu.

Police said, Preetam stabbed Vikrant on his stomach and repeatedly stabbed his chest. Another accused, Dheeraj attacked Vikrant on his head with a broken wine bottle. Rohit and Namu, kicked and punched him hard. The accused attacked Vikrant’s father Manoj also who intervened to save his bleeding son. Manoj also sustained serious injuries.

On being informed police squad reached the spot and controlled the situation. The horrifying incident created a panicking situation in the area. Both the injured were immediately sent to Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Police said, Vikrant’s condition was still critical.

According to sources, Vikrant was involved in black marketing of railway tickets, which led to tiff between him and Dheeraj and Rohit, who were involved in the same business.

On the complaint of Manoj Wasnik, Sitabuldi Police Inspector Dhobe registered an offence under sections 307, 323, 324, 34 read with sub sections 7 of Criminal Amendment Act and sub section 135 of Mumbai Police Act of the IPC.

Police have arrested Dheeraj and Rohit while search for other accused is on.
